Nominate A Teacher!

The Schoolie Awards launched in 2023, and were an idea sparked by Bro. Dr. Theo Fowles, a career educator who started his 15+ year career in the education space as a classroom teacher. The awards are community-driven and are given to recognize teachers at three levels:

  • Early Career Teachers | 1-3 Years in the Classroom

  • Mid-Career Teachers | 4-9 Years in the Classroom

  • Legacy Teachers | 10+ years in the Classroom

This Year, Schoolie Award Recipients will receive a microgrant of $300 towards classroom resources, self-care support, or professional development opportunities.

The deadline to nominate a teacher is May 23, 2025. To receive the microgrant, selected nominees must 1) Teach in the Greater Los Angeles Area, 2) Complete a short survey, 3) Selected Nominees MUST attend the Phi Beta Sigma Los Angeles Alumni Foundation Scholarship Luncheon on June 28, 2025. All selected nominees will receive two tickets to the luncheon— one for themselves and a guest.
