Today’s Students. Tomorrow’s Professionals.
Bro. Dr. Brandon Harris recently released a paper titled Validation as motivation: A reference to help today’s students become tomorrow’s professionals. Bro. Dr. Harris, who is part of the chapter’s education committee, . is an author and award-winning educator, based at Loyola Marymount University. Dr Harris is a grant recipient and member of the Pi Lambda Theta International Honor Society of Education, who has previously been nominated for the University of Southern California Mentoring Award and received the Certificate of Appreciation for Community Based Applied Research from the Office of Community Engagement at CSU, Northridge.
Within this paper, Dr. Harris argues that as student transition from campus to the professional world, ‘creating programs that fortify the existing skills and abilities of students will position students as qualified candidates for higher paid and higher-risk employment positions.’ Further, while students are on campus, Dr. Harris reemphasizes that ‘validating student differences by adapting to the norms shaped by their socialization can inspire student interaction and involvement.’
While the research Dr. Harris currently does focuses on the access and scaffolding institutions and organizations provide students while transitioning into their early career, his next projects will look into how to empower students to attain higher level roles.
